Dear LP Supporters
I am so OUTRAGED! My brother Leonard was severely beaten upon his
arrival at the Canaan Federal Penitentiary. When he went into
population after his transfer, some inmates assaulted him. The
severity of his injuries is that he suffered numerous blows to his
head and body, receiving a large bump on his head, possibly a
concussion, and numerous bruises. Also, one of his fingers is
swollen and discolored and he has pain in his chest and ribcage.
There was blood everywhere from his injuries.
We feel that prison authorities at the prompting of the FBI
orchestrated this attack and thus, we are greatly concerned about his
safety. It may be that the attackers, whom Leonard did not even
know, were offered reduced sentences for carrying out this heinous
assault. Since Leonard is up for parole soon, this could be a
conspiracy to discredit a model prisoner.
He was placed in solitary confinement and only given one meal, this
is generally done when you won't name your attackers; incidentally
being only given one meal seriously jeopardizes his health because of
his diabetes. Prison officials refuse to release any info to the
family, but they need to hear from his supporters to protect his
safety, as does President Obama. His attorneys are trying to get
calls into him now.
This attack on LP comes on the heels of the FBI's recent letter,
prompting this attack by FBI supporters as an attempt to discredit LP
as a model prisoner. Anyone who has been in the prison system knows
well that if you refuse to name your attackers or file charges
against them, then you lose your status as a victim and/or given
points against your possible parole and labeled as a perpetrator.
It is not uncommon, in fact is quite common for the government to use
Indian against Indian and they still operate under the old adage "it
takes an Indian to catch an Indian". In 1978, they made an attempt to
assassinate him through another Indian man who was also at Marion
prison with LP. But Standing Deer chose to reveal the plot to him
instead of taking his life in exchange FOR A CHANCE AT FREEDOM. When
Standing Deer was released in 2001, he joined the former Leonard
Peltier Defense Committee as a board member. He also began to speak
on Leonard's behalf until his murder six years ago today. Prior to
his murder, Standing Deer confided with close friends and associates
that the same man who visited him in Marion to assassinate Peltier,
had came to Houston, TX and told him that he had better stay away
from Peltier and anything to do with
him.
We are aware that currently, the FBI is actively seeking support for
his continued imprisonment of Leonard Peltier and also also seeking
support from Native People. So please be aware, and keep Leonard in
your prayers. The FBI is apparently afraid of the impact we are
having. If they will set him up to blemish his record just before a
parole hearing, what will they do when it looks like his freedom will
become a reality? We need to make sure that nothing happens to him
again!
Please write the President, send it priority or registered mail.
Email to Change.gov or email President Obama. Call your
congressional representatives and write letters, not email, to them.
Do what you can to get the word out to insure that LP is receiving
adequate medical attention for his injuries.
I am asking you, supporters of Leonard and advocates of justice at
this time to help. I don't know what else to do. Please Help!

Ok so you found a loophole, you named him Adolph because you can.
Aren’t you just clever?
Now What?

You want to be clever? You have an opinion you wanna share with the world? Then have enough guts to do it yourself, don’t use your kids as a tool for attention.
It would have shown more character and conviction to change your own name to Adolph Hitler instead of cowardly thrusting it upon a baby. It seems to me that baby will grow up having to clean up after your mess, for the rest of his life. It’s the child who will have to deal with the fellow classmates, not you. It’s the child who will want to start dating, not you. It’s the child who will have to sit through he job interviews, not you. This kid is going to spend the rest of his life fighting because mom and dad were too “clever” and weak to do it theselves.
It all just reeks of coward- ness. I mean these parents couldn’t even handle a birthday cake, without whining and complaining that the world is so unfair….?

This re-enforces much of what I believe about “white supremacy” & racisim being an excuse not to take responsibility for your own lot in life. Looking for someone else to blame, looking to pass the buck, onto your own children if necessary.

Boo.

Remember that Obama mentioned gays in his acceptance speech.
That has never been done before.

Its something. It’s a step forward. Except no one is noticing it. Everyone is focused on Rick Warren. The choice of Rick Warren is troubling. It’s a step backward. The LGBT community has every right to offended.

I also dislike the rightwing owned media portraying us as “intolerant” towards Rick Warren; and yet there is no criticism to his intolerance. WHO TOOK WHOSE RIGHTS AWAY?
Maybe we are giving him a power boost with all this attention. It is not enough to just fight, but to fight smart. If all your doing is bitching or moaning or “i-told-you-so”, then really, you aren’t helping. There needs to be something more effective.

Knowing is not enough; you must apply. Willing is not enough; you must do. Your art will be best when it is devoid of any self- consciousness. Freedom discovers you at the moment you lose concern over what impression you are making.

Artistic skill is not necessarily “artistic perfection”, but a continuing practice on some level of development. The perfection is not in the line and color, but radiated from the human soul. Those who attain mastery do not fear a challenge or glory in success.

The further you progress the fewer teachers there are. The better you get the lonelier it gets. Many will become competitors, and jealous enemies, many will simply not understand. Accept it. Most people hate being alone. But you can make use of it. Embracing solitude, you become one with the universe.
Still, keep current with the world. Know the disposition of your opposites and you’re your enemies. Try to see through their eyes. You can see through the eyes of another only after you can see through yourself. Research your own experiences. Absorb and learn what is useful. Forget what is useless. Add what is specifically your own.

The beginner starts by copying, the more advanced student makes a “faithful reproduction”, the master interprets. Your intention should be to project an inner vision into the world. Your artistic expression should be your soul made apparent. To state the deepest psychic and personal experiences into an aesthetic creation. Master art should be an expression of life that transcends both time and space, Employ your own soul through art to give new form and meaning to nature and the world. Do not be satisfied with decoration and embellishment. Your art is how you achieve your liberty. This isn’t about a one side promotion of yourself, but opening a dialogue for all human capacity. . Aim to use your daily activities to become a master of life. Master of art will become a master of living, the soul creates everything.
Art communicates feeling. It must originate with an experience or feeling of the artist. The poor quality art comes from insincerity.


I cannot tell you what to do, since that would confine you to a particular approach. Formulas only inhibit freedom. There are only tools to use as effectively as possible.
Be style-less so you can assume all styles. Style makes it harder to be adaptable, it only offers a better cage. In the absence of stereotyped technique as the substance means to be total and free. Where there is freedom from mechanical conditioning, there is simplicity. The truth is outside of all style.

Style-less art is the soul at peace.

Question everything. Nothing is sacred. Nothing is profane.
